Latar belakang: Sindrom down merupakan kelainan kromosomal genetik yang disebut trisomi dimana terdapat tambahan kromosom pada kromosom 21. Pertumbuhan anak dengan sindrom down cenderung mengalami perlambatan diberbagai sektor, salah satunya adalah gangguan pendengaran ( 65 - 75%) . Tujuan penulisan laporan kasus ini untuk mengetahui kurang pendengaran pada anak dengan sindrom down serta tatalaksana yang seharusnya diberikan.
Laporan kasus: Dilaporkan anak usia 11 bulan dengan sindrom down disertai kecurigaan kurang dengar. Hasil pemeriksaan brain evoked response auditory (BERA) didapatkan gangguan pendengaran sensory neural hearing loss (SNHL) derajat sangat berat pada telinga kanan dan derajat ringan pada telinga kiri. Pasien disarankan menggunakan alat bantu dengar, terapi wicara dan evaluasi perkembangan bahasa dan bicara tiap 6 bulan oleh TS tumbuh kembang anak.
Pembahasan: Kurang pendengaran menyebabkan berbagai gangguan pada aspek mental emosional, perkembangan bahasa maupun perkembangan sosial bermasyarakat. Intervensi awal dengan fisioterapi, terapi wicara dan terapi okupasi. Rehabilitasi pendengaran dengan alat bantu dengar (ABD), Bone Anchored hearing Aid (BAHA), dan implant koklea. Kurang dengar pada kasus ini dilakukan habilitasi dengan ABD, terapi wicara dan evaluasi perkembangan bahasa dan bicara.
Kesimpulan : Habilitasi pendengaran pada kasus ini dengan penggunaan ABD, terapi wicara dan evaluasi perkembangan bahasa dan bicara.
