Gangguan Pendengaran Pada infeksi Citomegalovirus Kongenital

Citomegalovirus merupakan penyebab gangguan pendengaran non genetik yang merupakan infeksi virus intrauterin dan bersifat kongenital. Infeksi CMV pada kehamilan, berpotensi menimbulkan kecacatan permanen seperti sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), gangguan penglihatan, epilepsi dan global delay development Infeksi citomegalovirus dapat bersifat simptomatik dan asimptomatik yang sangat sulit dideteksi keberadaannya bila tidak dilakukan pemeriksaan awal fungsi pendengaran. Diperlukan pemeriksaan skrining, dan diagnosis serta  follow up fungsi pendengaran pada bayi baru lahir yang berisiko maupun positif terinfeksi CMV. Sifat gangguan pendengaran yang ditimbulkan yang fluktuatif mengakibatkan perlunya pemeriksaan yang berulang dan konsisten setiap 3 bulan merupakan kendala yang dihadapi dalam deteksi ini.
