Perbedaan Efektivitas Chair-Based Exercise dan Senam Lansia dalam Meningkatkan Fleksibilitas Lumbal Lanjut Usia

Latar belakang: Fleksibilitas adalah kemampuan sendi bergerak melalui lingkup gerak tanpa nyeri. Senam Lansia (SL) merupakan salah satu usaha untuk mempertahankan dan meningkatkan fleksibilitas lumbal lanjut usia, yang dilakukan dalam posisi berdiri dan memberikan hasil yang baik terhadap fleksibilitas. Beberapa masalah terjadi pada lanjut usia seperti arthritis (khususnya pada sendi lutut) dan penurunan kekuatan otot yang menyebabkan mereka kesulitan untuk beraktivitas dalam posisi berdiri. Chair-Based Exercise (CBE) yang dilakukan dalam posisi duduk, merupakan alternatif latihan yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas lumbal lanjut usia.
Tujuan: Membuktikan tidak ada perbedaan efektivitas CBE dan SL dalam meningkatkan fleksibilitas lumbal.
Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Quasi experimental design. Dua puluh dua lansia dari 3 panti werdha yang berusia 60-74 tahun dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok. Kelompok CBE (n=12) mendapatkan Chair-Based Exercise dan kelompok SL (n=10) mendapatkan senam lansia.
CBE merupakan latihan aerobik yang dilakukan dalam posisi duduk, terdiri dari 3 tahapan: pemanasan, inti dan pendinginan. Sedangkan Senam lansia adalah latihan aerobik yang dilakukan dalam posisi berdiri, terdiri dari 3 tahapan: pemanasan, inti, pendinginan. Kedua latihan berdurasi 30 menit untuk 1 sesi latihan, dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali seminggu selama 6 minggu. Fleksibilitas lumbal dinilai sebelum dan setelah perlakuan dengan menggunakan Modified Back Saver Sit and Reach Test (MBSSRT).
Hasil: Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna delta nilai MBSSRT tungkai kanan dan kiri antara kelompok CBE dan SL setelah diberikan latihan.
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan antara CBE dan SL dalam meningkatkan fleksibilitas lumbal lanjut usia.
