Seorang Anak 17 tahun dengan Hipokalemia Periodik Paralisis
A 17-years-old child with hypocalemic periodic paralysis

Latar Belakang : Paralisis periodik hipokalemik merupakan suatu kelainan yang ditandai dengan serangan episodik berupa kelemahan otot atau paralisis yang diakibatkan hipokalemia. Tirotoksikosis, aktivitas fisik berat, diet tinggi karbohidrat, stress emosional, dan beberapa obat dapat mencetuskan terjadinya serangan. Tujuan dari penyajian kasus ini adalah untuk mendeferensiasi penyebab periodic paralisis dari penyebab lain kelemahan dan kelumpuhan sehingga perawatan yang tepat dapat dimulai sesegera mungkin.
Kasus : Pasien seorang anak laki-laki usia 16 tahun datang ke Instalasi Gawat Darurat dengan keluhan kelemahan yang progresif pada badan dan keempat ekstremitas.
Diskusi : Kelemahan berawal dari kedua tungkai, lalu menjalar ke empat ekstremitas. Pasien menunjukan kelemahan pada keempat ekstremitas (2/5 kekuatan otot). Pemeriksaan elektrolit awal menunjukan kadar kalium plasma yang rendah (1,8 mmol/L). Pemerikaan penunjang fungsi ginjal, fungsi hepar, dan darah rutin, elektrokardiogram menunjukan hasil normal. Pasien diterapi dengan administrasi kalium oral dan intravena di ruang rawat inap, dan kondisi pasien membaik.
Kesimpulan : Pasien didiagnosis paralisis periodik hipokalemik dan dipulangkan dari rumah sakit dengan pengobatan tablet kalium.
